ROBERTO SÁNCHEZ-RODRÍGUEZ

Roberto Sánchez-Rodríguez is currently a professor in the Department of Urban and Environmental Studies at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, a research institution in Mexico. He is also an emeritus professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of California, Riverside, and he is a vice-chair of the Working Group II of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the 2016-2022 cycle.

Sánchez-Rodríguez has collaborated in several initiatives of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC), the International Council for Science (ICSU), and the International Council of Social Sciences (ISSC). Sanchez-Rodriguez studies vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, multilevel governance in the context of climate change, the science-policy/practice interface with a particular emphasis on responses to climate change, the interaction between trade and the environment, and the search of new paths of growth and development in the context of global change in the 21st century.
